Update on updates 10/16/2011
We're slowly ... but surely! ... getting up pages for the new website. We're taking our time as we're going through all the old pictures, to best share our family with you. We have - no kidding - over 43,000 pictures!! so this has become a major project, and we appreciate your patience! Feel free to poke around, and we invite you to check back as we get more & more pages up. Our current focus is the dogs' pages, including our furry kids in other kennels/homes & extended furry family; getting information up on past litters (especially as seeing how past litters grows helps us so much in evaluating each generation); and getting a few of the kids' fun day pictures up. A lot of the kids' pages just have a few pictures with some basic information. There are also a lot we still haven't gotten to, particularly the newer generations & those "out and about". But the hard part (sorting all the pictures!) is getting done, so we're getting there! So far our fully completed pages include our beautiful foundation girl Luna (well, ok, a lot done anyway - the truth is we will be continually updating her page as we get other pictures sorted, as we are including pictures of Luna with all her family as they grow). Also we have her son Kobo; her grandson Finnigan; Bodhi and his sister Prada, and (part of our extended family) Hunter's page (a Luna & Zoom son) along with a page with Hunter & his "brother" Shadow (a Hooch & Josie pup). We also have Molly & Indy's puppy pages up, and are working from both ends, present (Finn & Boots babies) and past (Luna & Titan babies). Several others (Hooch, Amore, Boots, Mojito, and others) have a good start on their pages but "aren't quite done yet". We'll let you know when they get there. We also have a few pages up under the "play date" tabs above - mouse over "Gryphon Dogs" and then "The Gryphon Gang", and to the right you should see links to 2011 pages. Next we'll also be working on more educational pages, and linking to several informational sources. We're excited & having fun with this project, thanks for sharing with us! Add Comment Finn hits the Top 10! 10/16/2011
Wow ... our baby boy Finn hit the Top 10 for Alaskan Malamute Best of Breed standings through August 2011! (DogNews, based on AKC Top Ten Breed figures) We are humbled by the great fun this young boy is having out there, being a great breed ambassador along the way! Finn is on Facebook 10/16/2011
Come share Finn's adventure! click here to visit & like his page :) Duncan makes his debut!! 10/16/2011
Baby Duncan, our Boots & Finn baby, just turned 2 month this Saturday, and made quite a debut! Duncan traveled down to California to hang with his auntie Mira (Finn's sis) and Teri & Scott Carranza, for a little puppy training, socialization and surfing lessons. They took him to an International show, and boy he did us all proud! Duncan took an SG-1 (very good, highest rating) all four shows, Best Puppy in Breed 3 of the 4 shows, and Group 1/BEST IN SHOW PUPPY on Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!! My heart is literally bursting with pride :) We cannot say "thank you" enough to Teri & Scott, two of the most wonderful people we know! we are proud to be part of your doggie family! Daddy Finn did pretty nicely himself, taking BOB 2 of the 4 days in Idaho over some very nice competition, Select the other two days. What a pair :) Finn Update: October 2011 10/16/2011
Finn just turned 2 earlier this year (January) ... as of the first of October, in 36 shows this year our Finn has taken BOB 26 times, BOS 3 times and Sel 5 times. Among these shows, at the OKC all-breed show accompanying the SKAMF specialty Finn took a BOS amongst several top-ranking mature competition; and BOS twice at the Mt. Rainier Working Dog Club Specialty (BOB was the lovely veteran bitch Emily from Peace River malamutes) and then BOB at the Sammamish all-breed on Sunday! We are so proud of him, words cannot even express. Way to go Finny! Black Ribbon 10/16/2011
We are sad to share the passing of Gabe(Gabriel), Quinault's Guardian Angel, CGC, WTD, WPD, WWPD, my first malamute and patriarch of our kennel. Gabe passed at 12-1/2, giving his opinion and keeping the kennel kids in line up to the last moment we had to let him go. What a bittersweet day, we got the call for Finn's G4 (our first kennel Group) on the way home from letting Gabe go. It was a few days before we could truly celebrate; and we figure Finny did it for his great-great-uncle Gabe. Gabe taught me how deeply I loved this breed, and all that they can do. Gabe had more heart than any dog I have met before or since, he even pulled a full size motorhome 5 feet by pulling on the tie-out when he saw a deer he felt he needed to go visit! He was also an apple-picker-extraordinaire, would even pull them down for the other dogs before eating his own. He did everything I asked of him, and more than I knew I even had the right to ask. Godspeed, my sweet boy, you took a piece of my heart and soul with you when you went, but I know you're running free and happy, bossing everyone around on the silver-harness team to keep things in order, and I hold you in my heart until we'll meet again. Finn (GCh. Gryphon's Northern Celtic Moon) earned Gryphon's first group placement, with a Group 4 at the Mt. Bachelor Kennel Club, July 3, 2011 under breeder-judge Sharon Weston. WAY TO GO FINNY!! Click here to see his big fancy picture :) Mojito is a Champion! 10/16/2011
New Champion! Mojito is now Ch. Gryphon's Caribbean Moonlight Cocktail! Mo came out once this year, to show in Sequim with his little cous Bodhi. He won the first day, so we pulled him so he could show in the "big shows" later in the summer. He placed well at the SKAMF specialty/all-breeds, but didn't quite make it to the top. The next show, though, Mojito came through! with a Winners Dog/Best of Winners and Best Bred-by-Exhibitor! to finish out his Championship! It was extra special as this was the "2-year anniversary" of Mojito going to his true heart-home with Tina Allen & Fred Westfall, our dear friends who picked up Mojito at the Gig Harbor KC (Shelton) shows when Mojito was 8 months old. Tina & Fred were both able to be there, which made it ... particularly awesome :) Mojito is the 3d of the Amore & Marsh pups (born Jan 2009) to earn their Championships. Mira is an AKC Champion! 10/16/2011
New Champion! Our "CA girl" Mira is now Am/Nat'l/Int'l Ch. Gryphon Moon's Star in the Sky! Mira, owned by Teri & Scott Carranza, came up to visit us for the SKAMF specialty, and we were so proud to share in the moment! Mira, handled exclusively by her new-to-showing (though not new to mals) mom Teri, took Winners Bitch at the SKAMF specialty for a major, and then Winners/Best of Winners at the accompanying all-breed show that Sunday! to finish out her AKC Championship with three majors, all on specialty weekends. We could not be more proud of you :) Mira is the second (and the first girl) of the Amore & Marsh pups (born Jan 2009) to earn their AKC Championship. Rock star Bodhi! 10/16/2011
Bodhi rocks the specialties! Little Bodhi-man did us proud the two specialty weekends this August! Bodhi, just 7 mos old, started out with a Best of Opposite Sweeps at the SKAMF specialty. The next weekend, Bodhi took back-to-back Winners Dog ribbons at the Mt. Rainier Working Dog Club Specialty, with his first major and Best-Bred-by-Exhibitor win on Saturday and a Best of Winners on Sunday! He now has 8 points already, way to go little man! Bodhi has been exclusively handled out of Bred-by-Exhibitor by his co-momma and co-breeder Tina Robbins of Wencina kennels. Way to go guys!
