Puppies!!! Now, who doesn't love a puppy? :-) Malamute puppies are one of the cutest bundles of fur you'll ever see ... but be sure they are right for you once they grow up! It's a good idea to do your reseach before looking at a litter of wiggly & wonderful puppy fur and tongues. Check out the numerous resources of breed information, and meet several breeders in your local area. Click here for information on finding a reputable breeder In the end, once you've decided a malamute is for you, listen to the advice of your trainer, other malamute owners, and the breeder in selecting the right puppy for YOUR home. |

If you are interested in getting a puppy from us down the road, please fill out our puppy application form. This will enable us to help you select the right puppy for your needs and wants. Click here to go to the Puppy Application You might ask, "why fill out one now when there are no puppies yet?" It's a good question. The answer is pretty simple - breeders often have full lists of potential "puppy people" long before the breeding ever takes place, and have many of their puppies sold long before they are born (or even before the breeding happens!). Plus, if we don't have what you are looking for (or when you are looking for it), your information can help us match you up with other breeders that might have what you need. Once you find a breeder with dogs that you are interested in, particularly if you are interested in a pup out of a specific breeding, it's helpful to the breeder to have your name long in advance to allow time for the interview and screening process. And it's helpful to you to know that you are "on the list" for that special litter. Here at Gryphon, we don't have a simple list according to "who signs up first". While a certain amount of priority will go to those who have expressed an early interest, puppies will ALWAYS be placed according to the best fit. Each puppy has their own unique personality, and we try very hard to match their personality with yours and that of your household and lifestyle. We are more interested in making the right matches that will last a lifetime than simply sending off the puppies to the first buyer at the door. Yet it's still to your advantage to be on a list sooner rather than later - that way, we have a chance to get to know you (and you us!), which has a number of advantages for everyone involved. Also, once a certain number of people have showed a serious interest in a particular litter, we will start referring folks elsewhere so there's aren't an impossible number of people waiting for pups from a single litter :-) We are more interested in quality than quantity, and so will only have an occassional litter. If we do not have a litter planned soon, or if you like what you see but might want to look elsewhere before making the big decision, we are happy to refer you as best we can to other ethical breeders with quality dogs that might have puppies that fit your needs. Don't be afraid to ask! We won't be offended:-) We want to help make sure your decision is the best one for YOU, so that it will also be the best for your puppy. |

| First, we have sent off our adored Luna daughter Amore ((AKC Major Ptd) Gryphon's Moon Hits Your Eye, WTD) to Wintuk kennels to be bred. An update on the change in plans: As we previously posted, our original hopes were to try Amore with Steele (Ch. Wintuk's Greystone Takonite) in one more effort to use this handsome boy... but sadly, it just didn't work ... the poor guy is almost 11, after all! and I guess he decided he likes being retired! (We are very happy that Steele did sire a litter earlier in '09 in the family - Steele had three lovely pups out of Selene's sister Georgia, who is living, loved and mushed by Karin Fischer of Anua kennels) But all was not lost ... Sharon and Larry had another impressive boy to offer with a fine old pedigree, a half-brother to Steele (both out of Drake) and a dog perhaps familiar to some given his impressive show career and admirable career as a stud dog thus far ... We are thus very pleased to announce a breeding with Amore & Riser (Ch. Staghorn's Sunrise Over Wintuk) |

| At some point down the road, a hopeful future litter will be with our "Kobo", BIS Am/Jap. Ch. Gryphon's Moon Over Sea G&H (Hooch's brother). Kobo has been back to visit us, finishing his American Championship in just four weekends! including two 5 point majors from the SKAMF specialty weekend. We have collected frozen semen on Kobo, and are waiting for that "just right match" for this very special boy. We will be sure to post once we know what Kobo has in store!! |
| Selene is pictured at 9 mos in gaiting shot; and 4 years old in the others. Yes, she's squinting into the sun in her sitting pose! silly girl. |

| Our next two breedings came about as a bit of a Plan B when our hoped for breeding with Selene & Steele did not work, but as they say, all things happen for a reason, and we think these two breedings are quite something to look forward to! |

Our breeding for 2010 will bring us back to the lovely Selene (Hooch & Remy litter). Since we were unsuccessful with our plans with Steele we are back to where we first considered for her - funny how things seem to work that way! So we are looking forward with great anticipation to taking her to the Robbins' Austin, BPIS Am/Nat'l/Int'l Ch. Wencinja's Int'l Man O' Mystery (dad to Boots and Tui from the Amore x Austin litter). This brings Austin back into the family from a different direction, and is another combo with tremendous potential. |

| We greatly anticipate this breeding with our baby girl. Selene is Luna's first grandpup, a Hoochie daughter, so is quite special to us. She is a lovely, lovely girl! with truly flawless movement. She is graceful yet powerful, with effortless groundcovering movement that you can't help but stop to watch. She has a wonderful sweet temperament, is a solid team dog, and is pretty to boot ... just, wonderful! (ok, so we're a wee bit biased!) Puppies hoped for in late summer/fall of 2010. |

| We very much admire Riser and his family, and are very excited to bring them into our program. So we are quite excited to welcome pups from this intriguing combination of two very solid dogs of exceptional temperament and working ability - both with a proven history of passing on these treasured traits. The Wintuk addition also adds a great old pedigree to our program that brings several positive traits - and a long history of impressive dogs - to the table. We also have to send out a huge THANKS - it has been such a pleasure to get to know and work with Steele & Riser's mom & dad, Sharon & Larry Kalous. We are honored they thought highly enough of our girls to go the extra mile for us! Puppies are here! born December 29, 2009. Check back soon for updates/puppy pics! |
