At long last we are coming back to our project of re-building our website after the move to Weebly. We are wading through the many, many, many pictures of our history with these wonderful dogs, getting them a bit organized and getting the best ones up on the website. Check in as we update ... we have so far added a page for available boys, and a special page dedicated to dogs that live with other families but are still part of our program, through great cooperative relationships with other breeders and wonderful puppy families. We have also updated Kobo's page (under available dogs, with his main page under Our Kids with Other Kennels), revising the picture collections and updating with wonderful shots of Kobo as a veteran.
We are also collecting in earnest articles and information to share on the breed information pages, any suggestions or contributions for consideration welcome! Boots confirmed pregnant!! this is a very special litter from frozen semen from a great dog of the past, Ch. Terrapin's Livin' on the Edge. We will xray around January 20; puppies due January 24th. Please do the happy healthy puppy dance for us!
Dec 18 2011 - Finn takes the 3d Award of Excellence at the AKC/Eukanuba Invitational in Orlando FL!!! under Judge Burton J. Yamada. What an honor for such a young boy! For picture see Finnigan's page
We're slowly ... but surely! ... getting up pages for the new website. We're taking our time as we're going through all the old pictures, to best share our family with you. We have - no kidding - over 43,000 pictures!! so this has become a major project, and we appreciate your patience!
Feel free to poke around, and we invite you to check back as we get more & more pages up. Our current focus is the dogs' pages, including our furry kids in other kennels/homes & extended furry family; getting information up on past litters (especially as seeing how past litters grows helps us so much in evaluating each generation); and getting a few of the kids' fun day pictures up. A lot of the kids' pages just have a few pictures with some basic information. There are also a lot we still haven't gotten to, particularly the newer generations & those "out and about". But the hard part (sorting all the pictures!) is getting done, so we're getting there! So far our fully completed pages include our beautiful foundation girl Luna (well, ok, a lot done anyway - the truth is we will be continually updating her page as we get other pictures sorted, as we are including pictures of Luna with all her family as they grow). Also we have her son Kobo; her grandson Finnigan; Bodhi and his sister Prada, and (part of our extended family) Hunter's page (a Luna & Zoom son) along with a page with Hunter & his "brother" Shadow (a Hooch & Josie pup). We also have Molly & Indy's puppy pages up, and are working from both ends, present (Finn & Boots babies) and past (Luna & Titan babies). Several others (Hooch, Amore, Boots, Mojito, and others) have a good start on their pages but "aren't quite done yet". We'll let you know when they get there. We also have a few pages up under the "play date" tabs above - mouse over "Gryphon Dogs" and then "The Gryphon Gang", and to the right you should see links to 2011 pages. Next we'll also be working on more educational pages, and linking to several informational sources. We're excited & having fun with this project, thanks for sharing with us! Wow ... our baby boy Finn hit the Top 10 for Alaskan Malamute Best of Breed standings through August 2011! (DogNews, based on AKC Top Ten Breed figures) We are humbled by the great fun this young boy is having out there, being a great breed ambassador along the way!
Come share Finn's adventure! click here to visit & like his page :)
Baby Duncan, our Boots & Finn baby, just turned 2 month this Saturday, and made quite a debut! Duncan traveled down to California to hang with his auntie Mira (Finn's sis) and Teri & Scott Carranza, for a little puppy training, socialization and surfing lessons. They took him to an International show, and boy he did us all proud! Duncan took an SG-1 (very good, highest rating) all four shows, Best Puppy in Breed 3 of the 4 shows, and Group 1/BEST IN SHOW PUPPY on Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!! My heart is literally bursting with pride :) We cannot say "thank you" enough to Teri & Scott, two of the most wonderful people we know! we are proud to be part of your doggie family!
Daddy Finn did pretty nicely himself, taking BOB 2 of the 4 days in Idaho over some very nice competition, Select the other two days. What a pair :) Finn just turned 2 earlier this year (January) ... as of the first of October, in 36 shows this year our Finn has taken BOB 26 times, BOS 3 times and Sel 5 times. Among these shows, at the OKC all-breed show accompanying the SKAMF specialty Finn took a BOS amongst several top-ranking mature competition; and BOS twice at the Mt. Rainier Working Dog Club Specialty (BOB was the lovely veteran bitch Emily from Peace River malamutes) and then BOB at the Sammamish all-breed on Sunday! We are so proud of him, words cannot even express. Way to go Finny!
We are sad to share the passing of Gabe(Gabriel), Quinault's Guardian Angel, CGC, WTD, WPD, WWPD, my first malamute and patriarch of our kennel. Gabe passed at 12-1/2, giving his opinion and keeping the kennel kids in line up to the last moment we had to let him go. What a bittersweet day, we got the call for Finn's G4 (our first kennel Group) on the way home from letting Gabe go. It was a few days before we could truly celebrate; and we figure Finny did it for his great-great-uncle Gabe. Gabe taught me how deeply I loved this breed, and all that they can do. Gabe had more heart than any dog I have met before or since, he even pulled a full size motorhome 5 feet by pulling on the tie-out when he saw a deer he felt he needed to go visit! He was also an apple-picker-extraordinaire, would even pull them down for the other dogs before eating his own. He did everything I asked of him, and more than I knew I even had the right to ask. Godspeed, my sweet boy, you took a piece of my heart and soul with you when you went, but I know you're running free and happy, bossing everyone around on the silver-harness team to keep things in order, and I hold you in my heart until we'll meet again.
