Boots is an amazing girl. One of our first Amore kids, she comes from the Amore x Austin litter that proved to be quite an impressive combination. Boots & her siblings have made us proud - including sis Tui (NZ Ch. AKC major ptd Gryphon's North Moondancer WTD) in New Zealand at North kennels and Shasta (Gryphon's Moon Over Mt. Shasta WTD) with Sierra Blu kennels (running on their professional sledding team), and they are still relative young'uns with a lot more to come!
Since we were focused on raising her sister Tui before her trip to New Zealand, Boots originally went to live with a friend who has a few other dogs from us. While there, Boots became a momma a little younger than planned ... but, sometimes things happen for a reason. Happily the match was a good one (daddy was another dog from our program, Guinness), and from this match we have our lovely and goofy Molly. Boots came back home to have her babies, and stayed as a permanent part of the Gryphon family. We are so proud of her. She was a fabulous momma, showed great strength, and she has quickly re-integrated with the family rotating "house" pack of girls, getting along with her grandma, momma, niece, daughter, and now her new granddaughter.
Boots has been a steady team member, always willing to do whatever is asked and a consistent hard worker. She also threw this trait in her first litter ... Molly may be one of the most enthusiastic and incredibly strong pullers we've had yet! Boots never seems to tire, always with that Mona Lisa smile and happy yet regal demeanor in whatever task you ask of her.
In the show ring, Boots dabbled with just 3 shows as a puppy. She came out late in 2009 to show in earnest as a young adult (25 months) ... and ... well, wow! Handled by her grandma Tina (mom to Boots' daddy, Austin, from Wencinja kennels) in the classes, she won 8 out of 11 shows to finish her Championship in short order, with three majors, 6 BOWs, and two BOS wins over specials! Since she was just getting into the whole showing thing, we showed her a little while longer before taking a break. In just a few months of showing Boots picked up 75% of her Grand Champion requirements, consistently held her own with BOB/BOS/Select wins against much more mature competition, and broke into AMCA's Top 20. Boots finished out the '10 year as AMCA's PNW #1 Bitch! yahoo Boots! We're letting her take a little time to mature, do momma-hood again and work on her sledding titles - but she'll be back!
Boots did a fabulous job with her first litter, and lived up to her heritage by being an exceptional momma. She went on to produce a lovely litter with our Finn, once again showing just how much she loved being a momma and raising fabulous babies. We look forward to her final breeding, a very special one with a great dog from the past, Gryphon of Terrapin kennels, in early 2012.
